What is the Use of Activity Status on Instagram?

The Direct Messaging (DM) feature’s activity status feature lets people know when you were last online and whether you’re using Instagram right now. When you go to share a post from your feed, a tiny green dot will appear next to the user’s Instagram handle name and profile picture in both your friend list and your DM inbox if they are active on the platform.
